Ralph E. (Tubby) Ripka, 92, formerly of the 2200 block of Johnston Place, died Monday, December 12, 2011 at the Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Facility where he had been a resident for the past year.
Ralph’s wife, the former Grace E. (Peach) Schleh, died April 16, 2003.
Ralph was an Army veteran of World War II in the battles of Normandy, Ardennes and the Rhineland. He received the Bronze Star, POW Medal and a Purple Heart.
Ralph retired from the former Northern Central Bank, now M & T Bank, Newberry. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and small engine repairs.
Born May 23, 1919 in Milton, he was the son of Frederick J. and Mary Louise Neitz Ripka.
Surviving are a sister, Shirley J. Heim of Williamsport and several nieces and nephews.
Ralph was predeceased by brothers, Frederick G. and Elwood W. Ripka.
