Ralph E. “Nick” Odey, Jr., age 81, of Salem, died at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Caprice Healthcare Center. He was born December 9, 1930 in Salem, Ohio, the son of the late Ralph E. Sr. and Irma B. (Hill) Odey. Ralph worked as a die leader at Sekely Industries for 16 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Salem AMVETS Post 45. He was also a member of the Salem Slovak Club. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa L. Odey of Salem and Denise A. Higgins of Tucson, AZ; four sons, Rick L. (Theresa) Odey of Mebane, NC, Jeffery S. Odey of Salem, Brett A. Odey of Huntington Beach, CA, and Darin L. Odey of Delray Beach, FL; five sisters, Florence Gibbs of Akron, Carol (Harold) Madison of Salem, Gloria Kane of Canfield, Marjorie Catlos of Salem, and Lavine Sharpe of North Canton; a brother, Richard M. (Bethel) Odey of Alliance; 5 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Janice C. Solomon, and a brother Robert C. Odey.
