Ralph C. Rohrbacher, 94, of New Stanton, formerly of Greensburg, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013, in Greensburg. He was born July 24, 1918 in Jeannette, PA, son of the late Charles Edward and Minnie Miller Rohrbacher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Rae Rohrbacher, five brothers, Charles, Clinton, Russell, Harry, and Robert, and three sisters, Luella Dornin, Anna Haines, and Eleanor Kaylor.
Ralph graduated from Jeannette High School in 1936. He worked for the railroad until he enlisted in the Army, Sept. 13, 1940. He served in Panama during World War II as Sergeant in the Army Air Corps. He was honorably discharged from the Army on October 25, 1945. Ralph always said that besides his wife and children, he was proudest of having served his country.
After the war, he attended an aeronautics school in Pittsburgh and Vail Technical School in Blairsville, where he later taught for 3 years. In 1951, he became a welder for the Irwin Mine Car Company (later known as Irwin-Sensenich). He was later promoted to Cost Estimator and retired at age 65 as Production Materials Coordinator.
Ralph is survived by three children, Pamela (Richard) Youhouse of Hopewell Twp., Gary Rivers of New Stanton, and Shirley (Robert) Carter of Jeannette; two grandchildren, Michael (Megan) Youhouse of Hampton Twp. and Christina Youhouse of St. Petersburg, FL; a great-granddaughter, Avery Frances Youhouse; and brother, John, of Clearwater, FL.
