Ralph Addison Phillips, age 93, of Salem, went home to be with the Lord at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Sterling House of Salem. He was born February 8, 1921 in Orleans County, Albion, NY, son of the late George H. and Ada Mary (Ahrens) Phillips. He graduated from Aspinwall High School in 1939. He then served in the Merchant Marine Branch of the Coast Guard, during World War II, and was honorable discharged on July 18, 1945. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Salem and the Gold Star Sunday School Class. He faithfully served as Financial Secretary for over 20 years, as well as serving in various positions as Usher, Deacon, and Missions Ministry. He was a long time member of the church choir and also a member of the Masons and Eastern Star. His wife, Dorothy Jane (Anderson) Phillips, whom he married December 29, 1949, preceded him in death December 10, 1992. They made their home near Pittsburgh until the early 1960’s when Ralph transferred to Salem in his position with the A&P Packing Plant, formerly on State Route 45. He was also preceded in death by three sisters. He is survived by many nieces and nephews, who loved him and will miss him dearly.
