Ralph A. Webber, 92, of Jacksonville, IL and formerly of Peoria, IL died Friday, January 22, 2010 at Passavant Hospital Transitional Care Unit in Jacksonville.

He was born December 24, 1917 in Washburn, IL; the son of John and Mary Ellen Andrews Webber. He married Elouise J. Stinson on November 9, 1940 in Burlington, IA and she preceded him in death in 2002.

He is survived by a brother, Emery Cortland Webber (wife, Ingrid) of Cashmere, WA; five nieces, JoAnn LeRoy of Chillicothe, Joy Margolis of Nantucket, MA, Cindy Mello of Golden Gate, WA, Cheryl Miller of Wenatchee, WA, and Beverly Westfall of Guthrie, OK; a nephew, Lyle Cross of Philadelphia, PA; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dean Webber, and a sister, June Emerick.

Mr. Webber served with the US Army during WWII in the European Theater. For his exemplary service as an ambulance driver during the Battle of the Bulge and at other venues, he was awarded five battle stars. After military service, he was a branch manager and salesman for Sealtest Foods and later with Bordenâ??s Ice Cream before embarking on an over 40 year career in real estate. He was a realtor with Grojean Realty and a partner in the Elm City Realty firm prior to owning and operating his own agency. He was a past president and director of the Jacksonville Area Board of Realtors.

He was a former advisor for Junior Achievement in Peoria and a former member of the Peoria Jaycees. He has been an active member of the Jacksonville Kiwanis Club where he was presented with the Distinguished Kiwanian and Hixson Awards in recognition of his devoted service. He was a member of Jacksonville Amvets Post #100, Springfield Disabled American Veterans Post, Jacksonville Country Club, and a 45 year member of Harmony Lodge #3 AF & AM. He attended Lighthouse Baptist Church in Jacksonville.
