Obituary of Rajendra Kumar Mondol

Mondol, Rajendra “Raji” Kumar of Saginaw Township

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at his home with his family by his side, following a long battle with cancer. He was 64 years old. Raji was born on November 1, 1951 in Hyderabad, India to Profulla K. and Dr. Merlyn (Datt) Mondol. He attended and played soccer for Michigan State University and graduated from Saginaw Valley State University. He married the love of his life Marianne Ouilllette on September 1, 1977 in Saginaw. He was employed and retired from General Motors. Raji’s life passion for over 30 years was coaching soccer. Raji also enjoyed traveling especially out west. He loved the mountains, hiking, visiting national parks. He had the wonderful gift of storytelling and making others laugh. Raji also had a love of photography and writing poetry. Above all he loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 38 years, Marianne Mondol of Saginaw Township; two daughters: Heidi (Glenn) Maguire of Birch Run and Raquel (Sean) McGovern of Saginaw Township; two grandchildren: Maya and Wyatt McGovern; one step-son, Dan Molnar of Arizona; two step-grandsons: Brandon and Tory Molnar; mother, Dr. Merlyn Mondol of Saginaw Township; one sister, Rajkumari (Rick) Wiener of Williamston; and one brother, Jitendra Mondol of Ventura, CA. Also surviving are a niece and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Prof K. Mondol; a sister-in-law, Janet Mondol.
