Rafael Fiol-Vazquez, 69, of 109 Frank St., New Haven, passed away at his home on Jan. 2, 2007. Born in Condado, San Juan, Puerto Rico on July 13, 1937, he was the son of the late Angel Fiol Negron & Emerita Vazquez. He was a graduate of University of Puerto Rico and received a Bachelor of Laws degree from Inter-American University. He served in the US Army and was discharged in 1968. He was employed at the New Haven Register for 8 years prior to his retirement. He is survived by a daughter, Olga M. Fiol of Fort Myers, FL.; a brother, Dr. Julio Fiol of Puerto Rico; 2 grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Also survived by his constant companion, Mary Paolella of New Haven.
