Rachel Marie Langley was born in Gallivant Ferry, SC, on January 2, 1941, and peacefully passed away in North Myrtle Beach, SC, on September 2, 2023. She was the second-born beloved daughter of Alma and Lanneau Jenkins.

After graduating from Whittemore High School in 1959 and attending Whittemore Junior College, Rachel married James “Tegure” Langley and embarked on a new chapter in Brooklyn, New York. There, she devoted over 30 years to a career with the USPS, serving as a dedicated supervisor for Mail Distribution in New York.

Rachel’s heart was filled with a great love for her family and the precious moments they shared.

Her true passion was found in the kitchen, where she poured her secret sauce of love and magic into every soul-food dish she prepared.

Rachel’s wisdom and life lessons were rooted in her deep love for family and friends. She imparted the importance of prioritizing and cherishing one another, emphasizing the need to express love through actions and regular communication. Rachel exemplified the value of meaningful friendships, recognizing that true friends are a blessing and an extension of one’s family.

In her passing, Rachel is preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Lanneau Jenkins; her brother, Willie Jenkins; sister, Josephine Jenkins; brother-in-law, Walter Ware II; her beloved niece, Donetha Jenkins; and spouse, Tegure Langley. Rachel is survived by her brother, Mack M. Jenkins (Gail Jenkins); sister, Dorothy Ware; a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins; dear friends, Barbara, Ella, Hazel, and Millie; and beloved God-children who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.
