Rachel Ann Johnson, 94, of Caldwell passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Nampa.
Rachel was born on August 20, 1913 at Ripley, Oklahoma to Franklin and Ocal Boyd Rardin. She was raised in Oklahoma and in 1930 moved to Fairfield, California with her family. She worked with her family in the fruit orchards and loved the outdoors and sunshine. A young handsome man, Ervin ‘Sam’ Johnson, whom she had met in Oklahoma, followed her to California, where they began a marriage that lasted 63 years until Sam passed away in 1995. From California, they moved on to Oregon and then to Idaho in 1949.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Shirley Landers, a sister, Pauline Talbert and two brothers, Alvin Rardin and George Rardin.
Rachel is survived by three of her children, Margie McGee of Long Beach, CA, Wanda (Jack) Dunn of Boise and Jim (Brenda) Johnson of Nampa; Son-in-law Mel Landers of Caldwell; 15 grandchildren, Greg Clapton, David Clapton, Karma Dobrusky, Vicki McIntire, Beth Camero, Kathy Hayes, Mary McGee, Diane Atkinson, Donna Gabbitas, Dan Pierson, Julie Pierson, Brian Johnson, Gina Burns, Josh Johnson, Kris Johnson and their families including 25 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren.
