R. Steven “Rudy” Graves, 68, of Charleston, IL, and formerly of Virginia, IL died Saturday, March 3, 2018, at his home. He was born on July 23, 1949, in Peoria, IL, the son of John R. and Ruby N. Strowmatt Graves.

He is survived by four children, Steven W. Graves of Springfield, Sara Garza (husband, Nathaniel) of San Antonio, TX, Jennifer Hays (husband, Eric) of Virginia, and Ali Trizzle (husband, Justice) of Charleston, and 10 grandchildren, William Garza, Natalie Garza, Samuel Garza, Matthew Garza, Deborah Garza, Amelia  Hays, Norah Hays, Tessa Hays, Bryant Hays, and Landen Trizzle.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Autumn Graves in infancy.

Steven graduated from Virginia High School and attended Illinois College.  He served stateside in the US Marine Corps from 1971 to 73 during the Vietnam War.  He was employed for over 30 years with Ameren-CIPS prior to his retirement and was currently working part-time with the Eastern Illinois University transportation system.

He enjoyed shooting pool with his WB’s Pub-N-Grub pool team and bowling with his WB’s Pub-N-Grub bowling team during league competitions in the Charleston area.  A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rudy also loved rooting for his beloved St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Blackhawks.
