R. Barnes Latham died on May 3, 2020, in Carmel, Indiana. He was born in Anderson, Indiana, on February 11, 1937, the son of Margaret and Wilbur Latham.
Barnes graduated from Anderson High School and then Indiana University. He was a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Barnes worked for Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. for over thirty years and held positions in the home office in Ft. Wayne, as well as serving as Agency Head of the Atlanta and Indianapolis offices. He was an avid golfer and a member of Crooked Stick Golf Club in the 1980s and 90s. Barnes also loved spending time at Lake Wawasee in the summers and winters in Florida. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Barnes is survived by his wife, Janet Busby Latham; son, Jeff Latham, M.D. (his wife Leigh, M.D.); daughter, Susan Valaik (her husband Michael), the Latham grandchildren, Evan and Elise, and the Valaik grandchildren, Nathaniel, Connor, Ian, and Anna.
