The world lost a loving and sweet soul on November 8, 2022. Preston Henry Hahn was born in Portsmouth, NH on September 25, 2002.
Throughout his life, Preston overcame many challenges. Born with a cleft lip and pallet, he went through many surgeries and speech therapy at an early age. Then at age thirteen, he was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. His resilience kept him moving forward no matter what life threw at him. His love for music started young, and he gravitated to the piano. Preston never took lessons, and he began composing his own music at the age of 14. He created his logo:
The “P” is an upside-down music note. The “S” is a treble clef. And the “O” is a whole note. A favorite song that he composed was a song called “One Final Breath.” He wrote it for a friend who died of cancer. His favorite composer was Hans Zimmer and, Preston wanted to compose cinematic music.
Preston was creative and always liked a challenge—whether it was a debate or something musical. He also was self-taught with the flute, clarinet, and cello. In fact, he played the cello for Harnett Central High School orchestra during his senior year.
Preston also enjoyed nature and loved animals. Preston was a sweet, caring and loving human being. He will be missed.
Preston is survived by his father Gregory Hahn, his mother Jodie Smith and his three brothers: Tyler (24), Gabriel (22) and Tidus (17).
We remember Preston—a life well-lived and a person well-loved.
