Prentis served in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Elnora American Legion and a life member of the Odon VFW.
Survivors include: three daughters, Connie (Steve) Hammer of Elnora, Debbie Lockridge of Bloomington and Vickie (Gary) Roberts of Linton; four grandsons, Kelly Foster, Todd Hammer, Troy Roberts and Travis Roberts; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, David Wayne Foster of Vicksburg, IN and one sister, Lucille Ronk of Odon.
Prentis was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Donna Foster; one grandson, Wesley Hammer; brothers, Donal, Paul, Billy, Gerald and infant Malcolm Foster; sisters, Bernis Boatman, Jane Morgan and infant Elizabeth Foster.
