Porfirio Pérez, Sr. (Pilo), of Silver City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Fort Bayard Medical Center in Santa Clara

Pilo was born on July 5, 1925 to Nicolás & Terésa Pérez. He had just celebrated his 97th Birthday. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving the United States Army in the 32nd Infantry, 126th Regiment, “Charlie” Company in the Pacific and Japan as a Tank Leader. Pilo was President of the Lions’ Club, a member of Hurley’s Masonic Lodge, and founder of the Schools of Animal Science and Agriculture at the University of Chihuahua.

Pilo is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Margaret L Pérez; son, Porfirio Pérez, Jr. (Wanda); daughter, Cristina Pérez-Shaw (Mark); grandson, Carlos Pérez; nephew, Alan Pérez; cousin, María Isabél Dozál and many other cousins, nieces, nephews, close family and friends.
