Polly Marie Mason, 57, affectionately known as “Sweet Pee” or “P”. Daughter of the late Shirley Ann Thomas and Leroy Thomas. She was a child of God who was called home to rest on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.

A true Marylander born and raised, she planted roots, and sprung a family whom  she loved and cherished. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and great friend to all who knew her.

After graduating North Caroline High School in 1978; with Polly’s love and gift for doing hair she attended and graduated from Kelly’s Beauty School in Dover, De., in 1987. In 1989, she partnered with Sandra Pitts and established Fresh Start Beauty Salon in Ridgely, MD. After working at Fresh Start, for many years, she transitioned into the Caroline County Public School System where she held various positions, which included; Substitute Teacher, Tap Room Facilitator, Assistant Cosmetologist Teacher and Custodian. Polly also worked for The St. Benedictine School in Ridgely, MD as a cook for 15 years. She later retired from the Batter-Up restaurant in Ridgely, MD as a cook. She then returned to her first love, Fresh Start Beauty Salon, until she became ill. She later transitioned to become a stay at home mom-mom, to care for her two grandchildren Kevin and Kaiden Proctor.

Polly was a wonderful mother, to her two children Kevin and Ashley. She enforced discipline through love with an unwavering amount of support for her children; making sure they had the best, far beyond those things material.

Polly was a very strong and confident woman who enjoyed life, who wasn’t afraid to live in her truth. She was known to be very giving of her love as she displayed through her acts of kindness, mentorships and friendships. Polly loved to laugh, in turn she loved to make others laugh, which led her to pursue and fulfil her dream as a stand-up comedian.  She loved to dance, hang with family and friends, and have a great time. Polly was many things to us all and she enjoyed her life to the fullest. Even through her illness she was determined to fight, enjoy life and feel beautiful while pressing through it ALL.
