Pilar (Verdu) Estalrich, 85, of Berlin, passed away at Hughes Health and Rehab in West Hartford on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014. Her soul reunited with her late husband, Angel Estalrich who predeceased her in 2010. She was born in Castell de Castells, Alicante, Spain on February 20, 1929 to the late Pascual and Joaquina (Tomas) Verdu. Pilar was a talented seamstress and worked for American Bazaar in New Britain. She was a kind and generous woman who was always there for anyone who needed her help. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughter, Angela Caravaca and her husband, John of Berlin, with whom she made her home. A devoted grandmother, she leaves her grandson, Alexander Caravaca and his wife, Danielle of Meriden and her granddaughter, Andrea Caravaca of Berlin, with whom she shared a special bond and adoringly called “Little Andrea.” Pilar also leaves her sisters: Josephine Verdu of Alabama, Rosa Tomas of Spain and Pascuala Verdu of New Britain as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Joaquina Vaquer. Pilar’s family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Hughes Health and Rehab for their loving care and support for their mom.
