Phyllis M. (Schafer) Olsen, 95, of Peru, passed away, Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Heritage Healthcare Center, Peru. Mrs. Olsen was born August 15, 1922 in Eden Twp. to Rudolph and Amelia (Zimmerman) Schafer. She married Albert R. Olsen on July 1, 1941 in Chicago. She was the custodian at St. John’s Lutheran Church for 22 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Women of the ELCA and sewing circle.
She is survived by two sons, Ronald (Connie) Olsen of Peru and Raymond (Jill) Olsen of Marysville, OH; one daughter, Sandra (Don) Love of Larwill, IN; 7 grandchildren, Melissa (Fiance Steve Villarreal) Bertolino, Steven (Gina) Olsen, Jeffrey (Jeana) Olsen, Douglas (Emily) Olsen, Julie Janssen, Sandra Echevarria and Donna (Steve) Weber; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandson, Gary Bertolino; one great-great granddaughter; 3 brothers, Ralph, Clifford and Clarence Schafer; and 4 sisters, Delores Schafer, Bernice Nagel, Evadean Braun and Carol Ott. Pallbearers will be Steven Olsen, Jeffrey Olsen, Douglas Olsen, Zakary Bertolino, Anthony Bertolino, Mitchell Olsen and Trey Weber.
