Phyllis Smith Mow, 92, of Lafayette passed from this life into eternal life on Friday, September 10 surrounded by her two sons and family.

Phyllis was born May 9, 1929, in Decoy, KY to Charlie and Laura Smith.  The Smith family moved to Indiana when she was a young girl.  Phyllis married the love of her life, Richard Mow, Sr. on August 7, 1948.  They were happily married for 60 years.  She was a long-time member of the Battle Ground United Methodist Church and loved her church family very much.  Phyllis enjoyed being a cook for 14 years at Battle Ground School.  She then cleaned houses with her good friend, Kathleen Miller, while being a wife, homemaker, and mother.

Phyllis is survived by her two sons, Richard Mow, Jr. (Roseanna) and Larry Mow (Pam); seven grandchildren, Kendra Billingslea (Matt), Joe Mow (Jessica), Jessica Aynes, Kelli Large, Harry Putman (Jennifer), Tiffany Bricker (Warren) and Brandi Bass (Brandon).  She was also blessed with eleven great grandchildren, Cidnei Bricker, Tommy Putman, Trenton Billingslea, Ashton Aynes, Gabrielle Large, Macey Billingslea, Akasha Putman, Dylan Mow, Raiden Putman, Colby Billingslea, Olivia Large and one great great granddaughter, Aleesyia Putman.

Phyllis was the oldest of ten children.  She is survived by brother Wilgus Smith (Zoe Ann), sisters Jewell Hazelgrove (Tom), Freida Passmore, Brenda Gibson (Larry), Debbie Humphrey, sister-in-law Lucille Smith and many special nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, sisters Lois Wayne, Mary Ann Roberts, Gail Feleke, brother, Ray Smith, grandson, Cody Putman and great grandson, Quinton Bricker.

“It’s so hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember”.  She will truly be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
