Philomena (Phyllis) Meriano Homicz, 91, of 355 Ferry St. (Fairbanks), a lifelong resident of Fair Haven, passed away May 25, 2016 in the St. Raphael’s Campus of Yale NH Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene J. Homicz. Born in New Haven on Aug. 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Concetta Moccia Meriano. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Homicz worked as a pool and gym attendant at Wilbur Cross High School for 22 years. She was a loving aunt to her many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was predeceased by five brothers, Peter, Vincent, John N., Gennaro “Jerry” and Anthony Meriano Jr.; and four sisters, Marie Criscuolo, Vincenza Amaturo, Julia Annicelli and Carmel Moccia.
