Phyllis Kay Werner was born January 18, 1943, to her loving parents George and Ruth Jacobs of Oklahoma City and her beloved big brother Bennie Jacobs. She grew up in OKC where she has lived her entire life surrounded by loving family and friends.
She graduated from Capitol Hill High School and soon after, met the love of her life, Henry C. Werner. They married and she was quickly and easily, fully embraced by the entire Werner family. Phyllis and Henry had two sons, Greg Werner of OKC and Scott Werner of Edmond, OK. She endured many hardships throughout her life, including the loss of her husband, but remained a positive bright shining light to all who knew her.
She accepted Jesus as her Savior early in life and served him faithfully all the days of her life. Her greatest love was being a mom, a grandma and a great grandma. She was lovingly known as Grandma Phyllis to so many throughout her life.
Phyllis worked many places including the OKC public school system, OKC clinic, and for Jimmy Hodges Ministries International, now known as Reaching Souls International. Phyllis loved her grandchildren above all. Brandon, Lauren, Jonathan, Justin, Dustin, Dillon and Braden—OH HOW SHE LOVED YOU, your spouses and your children. She was blessed to have the two best daughters-in-law ever in Kim and Tammy and loved them with all of her heart; as well as a special relationship with Michelle Werner and her children, who she dearly loved.
Together, Phyllis celebrated her 80th birthday in January, surrounded by those she loved most—her family. Her vibrant smile and amazing love filled that room and every room she entered. After a short time of illness Phyllis went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2023. She is survived by many and was preceded by many with whom she is now reunited, most notably, her husband Henry. She will be dearly missed but will forever be a part of the hearts, lives, and heritage of faith for our family and all who knew and loved her.
