On November 14, 2013 Phyllis K. Funk of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was 92. Phyllis was born in Corydon, Indiana on October 30, 1921 to the late Russell (“Tus”) and Mary Rowe. She married Alva Ray Funk, also of Corydon, on December 18, 1943 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Shortly thereafter, Phyllis, who was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps, was sent to Europe with the 35th Evacuation Hospital. She spent two years during World War II caring for hundreds of wounded soldiers.
