Phyllis (Erb) Herre, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 7, 2010. She had resided at Golden Living Center-Woodlands in Newburgh, Indiana for the past five years.
Phyllis was born to Ethel (Holmes) and Charles Erb, Jr. on January 25, 1927 in Rensselaer, Indiana. She graduated from Mt. Ayr High School in 1945 and married her lifelong sweetheart, Donald Herre, on March 10, 1948.
Phyllis was a farm wife and devoted mother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and raising chickens. Her favorite leisure activities were playing the piano and traveling.
Phyllis was a member of St. Luke Ev. Lutheran Church in Rensselaer where she was involved in bible study and vacation bible school. After retirement, Donald and Phyllis spent eleven winters in Gainesville, Florida, where they were members of a Christ Care group at First Lutheran Church.
Surviving is her husband, Donald of Newburgh, Indiana, one son, Ronald (Betty) Herre of Dayton, Ohio; one daughter, Debbie (Tom) Wink, Newburgh, Indiana; one granddaughter, Anneka Herre, Syracuse, New York; two grandsons, Don (Jamie) Herre, Marion, Ohio and Eric Wink, Newburgh, Indiana; one sister, Joyce Menna, Yuma, Arizona and one brother, Larry (Betty) Erb, Rensselaer, Indiana.
