passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Rensselaer Care Center. She was born in Tampa, Florida on October 18, 1926, the daughter of Nicholas M. And Meryl U. (McCreary) Myers.

She was a graduate of the University of Toledo and the University of Michigan where she earned her Master’s degree. Phyllis was a teacher for over 40 years, teaching for 23 years with the Rensselaer Central School Corporation.

On February 27, 1954 in Monroe, Michigan Phyllis married Ralph M. Cappuccilli who passed away on January 22, 1998.

Phyllis was a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church of Rensselaer. She was awarded the Indiana Teacher of the Year and was the founder of the Penorama Literary Magazine. Phyllis was a longtime sponsor of the Rensselaer Sunshine Society and was very influential in developing the foreign language program at the school.

She is survived by her children, Anthony (Nancy) Cappuccilli, Nashville, TN; Natalie (Randy) Waling, Rensselaer; Mary (Zbig) Kepa, Williamsburg, VA; Christopher (Mimi) Cappuccilli, Lake Forest, IL; and Mark (Joan) Cappuccilli, Mundelein, IL; 18 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Gagner, Harwich, MA and a brother, Robert (Vi) Myers of Arizona.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a great grandson and an infant sister.
