Phyllis Irene McKillip, 83, of Galesburg, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Rosewood Care Center. Phyllis was born February 26, 1930 in Galesburg, the daughter of LeRoy H. and Irene L. (Ronald) Dyer. She married Richard L. McKillip on February 3, 1951 in St. Patrick’s Church, Galesburg.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard of Galesburg; Sons, David (Dia), Dale (Cindy Boyd) both of Galesburg, Donald (Diane) of Minooka, Dean (Michele) of Salt Lake City, UT, Duane of Peoria, and Darren (Dena) of Houston, TX; daughters, Diane McKillip and Danette (David Coleman) McKillip both of Galesburg, and Donna (Jim) Larson of Altona; 20 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Martha (Willard) Carroll of Kewanee; and a sister-in-law, Jeannine Dyer of Galesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ronald Dyer; a daughter, Deana Kay McKillip; and a grandson, Jeff Larson. Phyllis was a homemaker and managed the Wareco Gas Station on Monmouth Blvd for 10 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Phyllis loved to quilt, attend all of her son’s athletic and choral events. She also loved to play bingo and go to the river boats.
