Phyllis Ginsberg, of Beacon, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 28, 2017 after a long illness. She was 84. Born April 1, 1932 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Hyman and Estelle Goldberg. Phyllis was a graduate of Queens College. She taught second grade at the South Avenue School in Beacon for twenty-one years until her retirement in 1987. She began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher in Philadelphia, PA. She was a member of Beacon Hebrew Alliance, a life member of Hadassah, a member of the Southern Dutchess Country Club, and a member of the NYS Retired Teachers Association. Later in life she enjoyed water color painting and attended art class taught by Patricia Braun in Fishkill. Survivors include her devoted husband of 64 years, Dr. Harold B. Ginsberg of Beacon, her three loving children, Dr. Stuart Ginsberg and his wife Mimi of Arlington, VA, Ellen Ginsberg and her husband George Schutzer of McLean, VA, and Shelley Leibowitz of Stamford, CT. She also is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Allison Ginsberg and her husband Kevin Walter, Sarah Ginsberg, Adam Ginsberg, Harrison Schutzer, Kendall Schutzer, Benjamin Leibowitz, and Abigail Leibowitz.
