Phyllis Frances Knapp, age 83 of St. Joe, passed from this life at home surrounded by family on February 17th, 2022. Frances was born July 10th, 1938, in St Joe, the daughter of George “Pope” and Opal Vera (Henley) Arthur. After graduating high school, she moved to Michigan to live with family. There she met Duane Knapp, her husband-to-be. Duane and Frances married on November 2nd, 1956, in Angola, Indiana. They enjoyed 65 happy years together.
Frances and Duane started their farm and family in Michigan, having three sons, Ronnie, Doug, and Terry. Frances worked in factories as well as keeping the home and working on their farm. Their family moved back to her hometown of St. Joe in 1977. She continued farm work and always looked forward to getting out on the tractor to rake hay each summer.
Frances loved deeply and had a self-sacrificing dedication to her family. She was always willing to help others when needed. Frances had a fun sense of humor and a quick wit.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Knapp; her parents; her twin sister, Sharon Arthur; and her sister, Elaine Cranfill.
She is survived by her sons Ronnie Knapp, of the home; Doug (Autumn) Knapp; and Terry (Regina) Knapp, all of St. Joe; her grandchildren Michele (Terry) Walker; Nathan (Heather) Knapp; Erin (Josh) Bray; Kason (Ashley) Knapp; Kelcey (Kaytie) Knapp; Jordan Surett; and Corynn (Paul) Wells; as well as 20 great grandchildren. Frances is also survived by her sisters Olive Cash of Clarksville; Marilyn Ledbetter of West Fork; one brother, Walter (Jerrie) Arthur of St. Joe; and many nieces and nephews.
Pall bearers are Nathan Knapp, Jordan Surett, Terry Walker, Paul Wells, Josh Bray, and Killian Ireland.
