Phyllis Long, 85, of Rensselaer, Indiana, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Franciscan Health, Lafayette, IN.
Phyllis was born in Rensselaer on August 17, 1935, daughter of Ray and Allie Mae (Henry) Phares. After graduating Fair Oaks High School in 1953, Phyllis and Halleck Long were married on September 19, 1954. He predeceased Phyllis on June 10, 2015.
Phyllis was a member of the Grace Fellowship Church in Demotte, IN. She had a career as a Bank Cashier at the former State Bank of Rensselaer for 30 years. When she wasn’t working at the bank, she helped Halleck on the farm. She enjoyed gardening, having much success with both vegetables and flowers. She cared and loved her family greatly and will be deeply missed.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Chris (Laura) Long of Dacono, CO and Rick Chambers of Rensselaer, IN; 9 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Coleen Long of Rensselaer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Halleck, and one son, Kevin Long.
