CAMPO-EDELMANN, Philomena M. (nee Capozzoli) formerly of Wallingford and Pompano Beach passed away on March 16, 2021, beloved wife of the late Col. George J. Edelmann USMC (RET) and the late Col. Guy R. Campo USMC (RET).Born in Philadelphia, Philomena was educated at Hallahan Catholic Girls High School and Rosemont College. Upon graduation With Distinction and a BA in French, she became triple certified in French, English and Spanish and began her teaching career in the Philadelphia School system. After three years, she gave up her career in order to provide a stable family environment for her children throughout 19 relocations as well as her husband’s many military deployments that occurred during her life as a military wife. A three-year tour of duty in Verona, Italy was the glowing highlight of her military life-experience, where she also achieved Italian language fluency. Upon her husband’s retirement in 1976, they settled in Wallingford.A devoted mother and energetic wife, as well as a “do it yourselfer,” she loved to work in her garden as well as entertain family and friends who delighted in her culinary accomplishments. After 50 years of being dubbed by her family as the “best cook in the world,” at their behest, she finally compiled and illustrated a cookbook of more than 160 of her favorite recipes. Always curious and adventuresome, she spent her later years vacationing in Florida and traveling on many cruises that took her and her husband, George from the Mississippi to the Caribbean, Panama Canal, Alaska, Quebec, Hawaii, the Baltic Sea, Russia and Mediterranean Sea countries.Philomena is survived by her children, Guy Campo, Jr., Mindy Thomas, Ralph (Donna) Campo, Brig.
