Phillip “Skip” Merton Eastlick, 76, of Terril, IA passed away on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Lakes Regional Health Care in Spirit Lake.
Skip was born on July 13, 1941 to Merton and Irma (Harris) Eastlick in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from high school in Springfield Illinois. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps. Assigned to 1st Marine Aircraft Wing as a Combat Specialist in Vietnam. MOS photographer/medic. After his honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he returned home and was united in marriage to Linda Beth Bomgaars. To this union, two children were born Steven John and Sandra Elizabeth. For many years they enjoyed life on the farm as a family.
Skip was a jack of all trades and enjoyed using his many skills in several lines of work. His proudest roles in the workforce was serving as a EMT in Orange City and also serving as a Surgical Nurse assisting Doctors in various surgeries.
When he wasn’t working, Skip enjoyed collecting many different things. Some of his most treasured collections was his extensive stamp collection, HO model train collection, Art paintings and drawings, woodworking projects and was known to have many hobbies. Inaddditon to his love of fishing.
He is survived by his son Steve (Mary Beth) Eastlick of Omaha, NE; daughter Sandra (William) McCarthy of Milford; 7 grandchildren, Connor, Johnny, Carly, Bronwyn, Shekinah, Kevin and Noliani; 2 great-grandchildren, Tia and Kylie; and his girlfriend Jean Vanpelt of Spirit Lake. Jean and Skip shared a love for gospel music and dancing. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Burke
