Phillip Roman Luque, 58, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on October 3, 2008 after a long illness.  He was born to Leah and Roman Luque on September 1, 1950.  He lived nearly his entire life in Boise.  Starting at an early age he learned to work hard helping with his family’s store, Luque Economy Foods.  He graduated from Capital High School in 1968 as Salutatorian.  In high school he was active in Debate and the Civil Air Patrol.  After high school he was offered a full ride scholarship to Columbia University and Brigham Young University.

After graduation he accepted an offer with Hewlett-Packard.  He worked his entire 29-year career there retiring in 2002 as an Engineer Scientist.  He earned numerous patents associated with his design work.

He met his eternal companion, Rosemary Kay while attending BYU.  They were married in the Manti Temple on August 12, 1972.  Together they had five children.

He was also active in the community.  While his kids were in elementary school he organized a volunteer science program with other engineers at Hewlett-Packard.  They designed and presented many science experiments for the public schools.  Phillip and Rosemary dedicated their time as Special Olympics coaches for the past 12 years.  His athletes dearly loved him.  He was also a HAM radio enthusiast.
