Roxbury, CT – Phil Nicholas Scourby, 66, passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Sunday, March 11, 2012, while hiking the Breadloaf Trail of the Appalachian Trail in Sharon , CT.
Born in Sparta , TN and raised in Brooklyn , NY , Phil was the son of the late George and Reba (Brady) Scourby. He attended schools in Brooklyn and obtained a BS Degree from the City College of New York. At the time of his death, he was employed by Integral Yoga & Natural Foods in New York City as a Grocery Buyer and Manager.
Phil is survived by his loving daughter Sophina and her husband, Patrick Oxer of Milford , CT. He also leaves behind cousins in both New York and Tennessee .
Among Phil’s many joys and passions besides hiking, were Sufism, Native American studies, World Music, cooking, and nutritious health foods.
