Phillip L. Brunner, age 84 of Stockton, IL passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2018, surrounded by his family at FHN Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rural Stockton/Pleasant Valley Township on April 2, 1934 to the late Lloyd and Bessie (Althof) Brunner. Phillip was a 1951 graduate of Stockton High School. He married Mary Kay Bernhardt on June 1, 1961, in Ottawa, IL. Kay passed away on June 30, 2008.

Phillip was a proud veteran who served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the Stockton VFW, Shannon American Legion and NRA.  He farmed all his life on the home farm. Phillip served in the Pleasant Valley Township for many years as Supervisor and Road Commissioner. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Kim) Brunner of Mt. Carroll; his daughter, Jan (Scott) Langfield of Stockton; his special friend, Myrna Handel of Mt. Carroll; his grandchildren, Drew (Bre) Trotter who serves in the United States Navy, Jacob Brunner, Kaylynn Brunner, Shawn (Megan) Langfield, Nick (Denise) Langfield who serves in the United States Army, Ashley (Fiance, Ryan Gadow) Langfield and Emily Langfield; his step-great-grandchildren, Damiano, Amir, and Mason; his sister, Mary (long time family friend Dayle) Nagel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay; his parents, Lloyd and Bessie; his brother, James Sr and his brother-in-law, John Bernhardt.
