Phillip L. Raywood, age 82, of Hobart, Indiana, where he lived for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2013.
He is survived by his two children: Phillip Jeffry (Jeff and Jill) Raywood of Holland, Michigan, and Kevin Andrew (Eileen) Raywood of Indianapolis, Indiana, three much-adored grandchildren, Aubrey & Cameron Raywood of Indianapolis, and Eugene J. Raywood of Holland, and one sister, Pamela Meckenstock, of Los Gatos, California.
He was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 58 years, Jacquelyn Raywood (Jackie).
Phil was born in Elgin, Illinois on May 8, 1931, and raised in Crystal Lake, Illinois. He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in pharmacy. He and Jackie were married in Crystal Lake on June 12, 1954. Upon graduating he served in the U.S. Navy as an officer for two years. He had a long career as a Northwest Indiana pharmacist until he retired at 72 and was a co-owner of Hillcrest and South Haven drugstores.
Phil was a devoted father and grandfather, attending every activity his grandchildren were involved in.
He was avidly interested in history and art. He loved to travel and he and Jackie visited many interesting countries.
