Phillip J. Benhart, 52, of Spring, Texas and formerly of Three Oaks, Michigan, died June 19, 2011 in Jackson, Michigan. Phillip was born March 26, 1959 in Michigan City, Indiana to James A. and Edna Mae (Krause) Benhart.
He graduated from River Valley High School in 1977 and served his country in both the United States Marine Corp. and the Army. Phillip grew up in a farming family and was an avid hunter and fisherman. His real talent lay in his artistic drawing ability and he had a fondness for putting together model aircraft and automobiles.
Survivors include his children, Amanda Benhart and Anthony Benhart both of New York; sisters, Diane (Patrick) Hodges of Spring, Texas; Denise (Ed) Granke of Three Oaks and Cathy Krueger of Baroda, Michigan; brothers, Michael Benhart; and Billy Benhart of Three Oaks; step mother, Vivian Benhart of Galien, Michigan and brother in law Tim Habel. He is preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Susan Habel.
