Phillip Gale Isom passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the age of 70. He died at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 8, 1948 to Cecil and Mary Ann (Webster) Isom and was the youngest of four children.

Phil graduated from Pendleton High School and subsequently obtained a Fire Science Degree from Indiana University. After retiring from the Anderson Fire Department, he served as the Deputy Indiana State Fire Marshal. He then worked for the Indiana Reformatory, ATA Airlines, and the Indianapolis Zoo. A long-time Freemason, Phil was a member of the Madison Lodge #44 and was also a member of the Madison County Planning Commission.

Phil is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna (Watkins) Isom; three children Adrienne (Cameron) Isom Malin, Phillip (Sarah Stalnaker) Isom, and Elizabeth (Steve) Petkovich; grandchildren Hudson,Harper, and Nick; and granddogs Baxter and Fergus. He is also survived by siblings Saundra Shultz, Richard (Karen) Isom, and John (Pam) Isom, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends who became family. Despite his gruff exterior, Phil was a kindhearted man. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and helping others.
