Phillip E. Cline
January 9, 1933 – January 23, 2020
Phillip E. Cline, 87 and a lifelong resident of Sheridan, IN; was called home on January 23rd, 2020. Phillip was born to Odie and Zelda (Griffith) Cline on January 9, 1933 in Boxley, Indiana. He graduated from Sheridan High School, Class of 1951. After high school, he honorably served our country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1961. Later, Phillip became an Ambassador for the National Farmers’ Association. He worked as an auditor for Associates Finance Company. Phillip also worked as an auto recovery specialist. Phillip started his path to many accomplishments in 4H at a young age. He was a proud 10-year member in Hamilton County Indiana. He proudly served as an Assistant Agricultural Extension Agent and a 4H Leader. Phillip enjoyed genealogy and wanted to share his passion with others, so he continued to serve as a 4H Genealogy Project Leader and later went on to write the state’s 4H Genealogy Manual. Phillip was an active FFA member and served on the State FFA Board. He was awarded the Hoosier Farmer Award. In Phillip’s later years, he was well known among the Sheridan community for his lawn care business, where he could be found around town mowing, weeding and planting.
Phillip is survived by his loving sister, Marilyn (Gene) Leonard of Sheridan; several nieces and nephews, Brian (Lori) Cline, Mike Cline, Tom (Tami) Cline, Susan (Bob) Zaltsberg, Greg (Chris) Cline, Terry (Kevin) Kingery, Andy (Frannie) Cline, David (Kristi) Leonard, and Steven (Anita) Leonard; as well as many great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents; and his two brothers, Kenneth and Keith Cline.
