Phillip Lawrence “Butch” Spivey, 75, a resident of Vicksburg, MS passed away Thursday May 4, 2023 surrounded by his loving children.
Butch was born to L.E. and Frances Spivey on June 10, 1947. He worked for most of his life as a welder, owning his own company and traveling across the US. He was never a man that enjoyed being inside or sitting still, therefore after retiring he would always find something to keep him busy, and never shied away at a hard day of work.
Butch loved his family and would do anything in the world for them.
Through the years Butch enjoyed fixing up old trucks and working on the land with his tractor and skid steer. He was an avid outdoors man that enjoyed hunting, fishing, and running his squirrel and coon dogs. He instilled a love for the outdoors in his children, grandchildren, and anyone that he came in contact with. He was an animal lover and was especially fond of horses and cows. He enjoyed rocking on the porch and watching it rain. He loved to joke around, his laugher could fill a room.
He was preceded in death by his father L.E., mother Frances, brother Michael Spivey and sister Joy Emerson.
He is survived by his son Butch Spivey Jr. (Heather), son Morgan Spivey (Stephanie), daughter Angel Henry (Tut) and daughter Meshell Gant (Rocky) his grandchildren Cody Spivey, Ryleigh Ehrhardt, Kailyn Ehrhardt, Chessa Spivey, Kye Henry and Bristol Gant, his brother Darrell Spivey (Corrie), his sister Sylvia Thornell (Redmond) and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
His family and friends are shattered at the loss of this beloved man and will forever have a void in their hearts and lives. The world is a darker place without him, but we know the angels are rejoicing.
