Phillip Kacmarynski, 83 of Mallard died August 29, 2012 at the West Bend Care Center.

Phillip A. Kacmarynski, the son of John and Mary (Olson) Kacmarynski was born May 28, 1929 in Mallard, IA where he was raised and educated. He attended parochial school in Mallard and graudated from the Mallard High School in 1947. Phil served his country during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded the purple heart.

On July 21, 1956 he was united in marriage with Deloris Spiegs of Knoke, Iowa at St. Mary’s Church in Mallard. The couple lived and farmed in the Rolfe area, retiring in 1999 and moving to Mallard in 2006.

Survivors inlcude his wife Deloris, children: Julie(Brad) Johnson of Lakewood, Colorado, JoAnn (Clem) Kern of Hastings Minnesota, Jerome Kacmarynski of St. Joseph Missouri, grandchildren: Derek and Cole Johnson, Kevin and Kelly Kern and Parish Kacmarynski, great grandson Luca Kern, siblings: Veronica Schmidt of Carroll, IA, Isabel (Wayne) Smith of Jefferson, IA, Mary Ann (Robert) Wagner of Estero, Florida, John (Mary Jean) Kacmarynski of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, and Patricia (Tom) Twait of Emmetsburg, IA.

Phil was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mallard, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post of Mallard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, children, Mary Esther and Mary Beth, his brother Bernard and brother in law Emmet Schmidt.
