Mr. Philip Wayne Cole, 65, of rural Ottawa, died early Monday morning, August 31, 2009 at his home.
Philip was born May 10, 1944 in Aurora to Marshall and Maxine (Bailey) Cole. He graduated from Serena High School in 1962. He married Elizabeth A. (Severson) Butterfield on January 9, 2009 in Ottawa. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam and served in the Marine Corps Reserves.
He was a barber in Wedron, Aurora and Sheridan. He was a conservation officer for 23 years in LaSalle County and then was a driver for Town & Country Sanitation (Waste Management) for 22 years. He was a member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, Wild Turkey Federation, North American Hunting Club and North American Fishing Club.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of Ottawa; two daughters, Marcy Black of Independence, MO and Kristen (Tim) Smith of Marseilles; two sons, Mitchell Cole of Oklahoma and Adam (Natalie) Cole of Sheridan; three step-daughters, Jessica (Brian) Lopez of Ottawa, Jennifer Butterfield of Leland and Laura Butterfield of Serena; 6 grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Eastwold of Bull Shoals, AR and Nancy Persinger of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to the family.
