  • Date Of Death: September 4, 2011
  • State: Arizona

Philip Heinrich Lahr rejoined his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at the age of 83. Born in Phoenix on June 24, 1928, to parents Ethel and Herbert, Phil served as Master Councilor of the Phoenix Chapter, Order of DeMolay and graduated from Phoenix Union High School. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1946-1948, where he was stationed in Japan. Thereafter, he graduated from Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, where he met and married Bonnie. Following their return to Arizona, Phil and Bonnie brought Deborah, Lissa and Dirk into the world. A practicing family physician and surgeon for three decades, Phil served on the Board of Directors of Phoenix Baptist Hospital and was Chief of Staff in 1969-70. Phil loved woodworking and outdoor pursuits, and had a special place in his heart for mountain camping, the beach and fishing in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. His family has fond memories of Dad ‘making sawdust’ in the garage, the many camping and vacation trip adventures to places near and far, and the numerous returns to Cholla Bay via outboard motor when ‘Felipe’s Folly’ invariably encountered engine problems 10 miles offshore. Phil is survived by his three loving children, Deborah Kimberly (Knox), Lissa Kurtz (Don) and Dirk Lahr (Timolyn), beloved grandchildren Thomas, Megan, Brian, Katie, Drake and Chase, sister Winnie Mattson, friend Nadene, and former wife Bonnie.
