Mr. Philip Glackin
, 74, of Kearny, passed away on Saturday March 20, 2010.
Mr. Glackin was born in Jersey City, lived in Bayonne and then Jersey City before moving to Kearny in 1965. He graduated from St. Peters College in Jersey City in 1958 with a B.S. in Accounting. He earned his C.P.A. in New Jersey 1n 1964. Philip was employed as a Team Chief in the Appeals Division for the Internal Revenue Service in Newark for 34 years. He retired in 1995.
As a very active parishioner in St. Stephen’s Church in Kearny he also was a Alter Server, a Eucharistic Minister, an Usher, he was a Past President of the Holy Name Society as well as the Bingo Director. The church honored him as Man of the Year in 1990. He was Past Grand Knight of St. Cecilia Council # 6928 Knights of Columbus in Kearny. He served as the director for the March to Life Bus Trips to Washington DC on January 22nd each year. He was a Chairman for Rite to Life Programs as well as the Special Needs Drives. He was past Knight of the Year. He was also a 4th Degree Knight for the North Arlington Council 1543 Knights of Columbus as well as a member of their Color Guard.
He is survived by his wife MaryPat (McInerney) and his children Kathleen Peters, Elaine Meehan (Bill) MaryPat Glackin, Florence Hynekamp (Harry), Sheila Armenti (Jerry), Philip (Ann), Rosanne Glackin, and Michael (Ursula). He was the brother of John. He leaves behind 16 grandchildren.
