Philip G. Eldredge, D.V.M., 86, was born the second son of John C. Eldredge, Sr.

In January of 1947 he opened a veterinary practice in Emmett, Idaho, then in the fall he moved to the University of Idaho to teach pre-vet classes and act as the university veterinarian. After two years, he returned to Emmett and re-established his large-animal practice, serving Gem and Valley Counties. In 1957 he became a federal veterinary meat inspector and worked in packing plants in Iowa. In 1960 he and his family moved to Caldwell where he continued in meat inspection until he retired in 1977. He enjoyed working at the College of Idaho on the maintenance and grounds crews and as chemistry lab clerk. After his retirement in 1992, he was always available to assist at the college in building and landscaping projects, and freshman orientation.

He is survived by his wife Betsy, daughter Ellen Crosby (John Murray) of Boise, ID, sons Craig Eldredge of Moscow, ID, Eric (Liz) Eldredge of Fallon, NV, Brian Eldredge of  Boise, ID, son-in-law Grove Koger of Boise, daughter-in-law Karen Eldredge of Boise, ID, grandchildren Jacob and Kaitlyn Eldredge of Boise, ID, step-grandchildren Brad Turnbull of Tooele UT, Matthew Spurlock and Lucas Spurlock of Boise, ID, brother-in-law Max Ingle of Tucson, AZ, nephew Pete O. Ingle and family of Wheaton IL and niece Mary Louise Junkins and family of Plano, TX.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother J. Crosby Eldredge, Jr., and son-in-law Fred H. Illingworth.
