Philip M. “Phil” Elliott, age 69, of Chandler, Arizona, formally of Dupont, Indiana, lost his battle with cancer on October 10, 2011. He was surrounded and comforted by his loving family. Phil entered this life on October 4, 1942, the loving son of Maurice Edison and Ruth Leona Fewell Elliott. He was raised in Dupont, Indiana where he was a 1960 graduate of Dupont High School and a key player on the varsity basketball team. He attended Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky where he also played basketball. After college, Phil served in the Army National Guard and spent several years working for Cummins Engine Company and running a farming operation before moving to Anderson, Indiana to work for Standard Oil of Indiana. He later returned to Dupont where he re-entered farming and later worked for Carpenter Body Works in North Vernon, Indiana. Phil married Karen Pennington on October 12, 1963 and they were blessed with two wonderful children. Over the past 26 years, Phil and his family have lived in Chandler, Arizona where he worked in the manufacturing industry holding operations management positions -most recently as an Operations Manager for Pirtek Sky Harbor. Phil was a proud husband, parent, and grandparent and enjoyed spending time with family. He most enjoyed the time he spent hiking, ATVing, boating, fishing and camping with his wife and family. Phil will be missed by his loving wife Karen A. Pennington Elliott of Chandler, Arizona; his devoted son Christopher P. Elliott and his wife Lisa of Erie, Colorado; his loving daughter Kimberly D. Elliott McCormick and her husband Patrick of San Antonio, Texas; his adoring grandchildren Katrina and Kayla McCormick; his brothers Keith Elliott and his wife Sharon of Dupont, Indiana, James Elliott of Arizona; his sisters Marlene Durbin and her husband John of Hunts Point, Washington, Jenny Franks and her husband Bruce of Dupont, Indiana, Marilyn Hance of Madison, Indiana; his sister-in-law Jeanne Laughlin and her husband Richard of Goshen, Kentucky; his brother-in-law Frank Pennington of Hanover, Indiana; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Ruth Elliott; his mother-in-law June Pennington; his father-in-law Frank Pennington; his brother-in-law William “Bill” Hance.
