Philip A. Glynn, 76 of Plainville and formerly of Bristol, earned his angel wings and passed away peacefully in the early morning on Thursday, January 8, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
He was born October 1, 1932 in Bristol, son of the late Joseph and Stella (Stepsis) Glynn. Philip had served in the U.S. Army and was a mathematics professor at the Naugatuck Valley Community College, having retired in 1997. He taught mathematics for 41 years and was active in the Mathematics Association in Connecticut. After his retirement, he volunteered at the Salvation Army for six years. He is survived by his beloved wife and friend, Shirley (Beeman) Glynn of Bristol; his son, Philip J. Glynn of Woodland Hills, CA; his three daughters, Maryellen Glynn and her husband, Michael Heslin of Plainville, Dr. Shirley Glynn of Woodland Hills, CA, and Theresa M. Jones and her husband, John W. Jones of Plainville; his three beautiful grandchildren, Jacob Theodore Jones, Jordan Philip Jones and Emma Rose Heslin; his sister, Marie Glynn of New Britain; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Glynn of Southington; his nephew, Christopher Glynn; his aunt, Anna Glynn of Plainville; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his two sons and daughter, Peter John Glynn, Gerard Glynn and Margaretmary Glynn and his brother, John Glynn.
