Peter Scalamoni 95 of the Ortley Beach section of Toms River Township died on Sunday February 9, 2014 at home. Born in Newark, NJ he lived in West Orange before moving to Ortley Beach, NJ in 1976. Peter had spent his summers in Ortley Beach since 1952 and also had a winter home in Pompano Beach, Fla.
He worked as a Quality Control Leader at Walter Kidde, Belleville, NJ for 36 years retiring in 1975. He also owned Pete Scalamoni & Sons trucking in Orange, NJ. Peter was a member of Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, Lavallette, NJ, Knights of Columbus Seaside Council #8415 3rd Degree. A member of the Elks, Toms River for over 30 years and a director of the Seaside Italian American club, Seaside Heights for 33 years.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary T. and son Joseph, he is survived by his son Peter Jr., Manchester Twsp. Sister Violet Caputo of West Caldwell, NJ and his daughter in law Elaine Scalamoni of Somerset, NJ. Grandchildren Maria Scalamoni, Joseph and Peter D. Scalamoni and Kelly Barozzini. Great Grandchildren Brielle and Lilly Barozzini and Charlotte Scalamoni-Goldstein.
