Peter John Jones, age 39, of Cass Lake, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the University Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis. He was born on Friday, February 8, 1974 in Cass Lake the son of Peter Hunt and Veronica Jones.
Peter was an avid sports fan. He loved to play ball as a young boy and it carried into his adult hood. He played ball until his knee started to give him problems. Peter still found enjoyment from watching even though he couldn’t play. He also liked to watch football and basketball. He would know all the stats for both games. Peter took pride in singing with the Ojibwe Hymn Singers and attending wakes with his cousin Archie. You would always find Peter at pow-wows, sitting in the stands or visiting with relatives and friends. He enjoyed life. Peter always teased and joked with his family and friends. His unique, crazy laugh, backed by a wonderful smile will always be remembered. Most of all, Peter loved his family and close friends. He worried about everyone, never himself.
Peter will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his family, daughter Jazlyn and girlfriend Anna Drouillard.
He joins his family waiting for him which include maternal grandparents Rose and Mervel Jones, brother Jesse Jones, paternal grandma Luella Hunt and one auntie Barbara Jacobs.
Peter leaves behind his mother; Veronica Jones, step dad; Bob Brown, father; Pete Hunt, brothers; Dwight, John, Bobby and Cory, sisters; Roxanne and Dawna, daughter; Jazlyn, special friend; Anna Drouillard, step children; Delbert Rushman, Jr., Jarret Wind and Jalyssa Johnson.
