Peter J. Loftus, 86, a long-time resident of Levittown, died peacefully at home in Bethlehem, PA, surrounded by his family, on Friday February 17, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; their four children, Mary Loftus (Bethlehem, PA), Bernadette Loftus (Los Altos Hills, CA), Peter Loftus (Greenwood, IN), and Ellen Corson (Garnet Valley, PA); 9 grandchildren (Erin, Moira, and Alex Dolan; Tim and Conor McKenzie; Pete and Frank Loftus; and Emma and Jillian Corson); 2 great-grandchildren (Leyna and Blake Jernagan); as well as son-in-law Kevin Corson and daughter-in-law Karen Loftus. He was predeceased by son-in-law Marty McKenzie. He is also survived by his brother, John, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born into a large immigrant Irish family on September 18th, 1925, he was raised in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, along with his 6 brothers and sisters. He enrolled in the US military’s Army Specialized Training Program after high school graduation in 1943, but when that program was disbanded, he was inducted into the regular infantry.
