Peter J. Coughlin Jr., 85, of Peru, died peacefully, surrounded by family, following a long illness, April 11, 2013 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle where he was a resident for 4 ½ years.
Mr. Coughlin was born on May 3, 1927 in LaSalle to Peter and Elizabeth (Krewer) Coughlin. He married Lorraine Keller on April 15, 1953 in Streator, IL. Mr. Coughlin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II. He worked at Carus Chemical Corporation as a production supervisor for 37 years. He is survived by his brother, Kenneth (Clare) Coughlin of Rockford; one sister, Ruth (Eldon) Golden of Ottawa; four grandsons, Eric, Peter, Kevin and Nathan Zack and their families, including six great-grandchildren; and his son-in-law, Kerry Zack.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine on May 14, 2010, his daughter, Phyllis Zack and his sister, Helen.
