Peter Chontoian, beloved father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, passed away in Scottsdale, AZ, at the age of 84, on November 13, 2010. Peter was born in Andover, MA to the late Mardiros and Armenouhie (Davoudian) Chontoian, and raised, along with his sister, the late Mary Sahakian, in Lawrence, MA. He graduated from Northeastern University, Boston, MA, with a BSEE, before joining the US Army in 1951. While stationed at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL, he met the love of his life, Corinne Whiteside, who was his wife and life partner until her death in April 2009. Peter enjoyed a successful professional career as an electrical engineer in Massachusetts, and, prior to his retirement, was employed in the aerospace industry by companies including Raytheon and General Electric. Peter moved to Scottsdale in 1994, where he was devoted to his family and many friends. He was an advocate of lifetime learning, and earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Phoenix when in his 70’s. He was happiest with a good book and classical music playing in the background. Peter is survived by his daughter, Janice Starr; his daughter and son-in-law, Beverley and Kevin Keele; his daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Ray Hilgreen; his daughter, Irene Chontoian; sister-in-law, Marie Linkins, Huntsville, AL; brother-in-law, Charles Whiteside, Portland, OR; cousin Robert Barsamian and his wife Gloria, Newton, MA; and cousin Elizabeth Minasian and her husband Steven, Belmont, MA. He is further survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
