CALIMAN, Peter, Jr. passed away early Saturday, February 23, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Battle Creek, age 93. He was born April 21, 1919, in Indiana Harbor, IN the son of the late Peter and Anna Roth Caliman, Sr. but he grew up in East Chicago, IN.
In high school, Peter was the Indiana State Champion for model airplane building. He worked for Edwards Valve Manufacturing Co. as a machinist for 6 years before entering the service. Peter was a US Army veteran of WWII having served as a machinist with the Engineer Construction Battalion overseas from ’44 to ’46.
In 1966 he was married to Donna B. Nicholas who preceded him in death in 2002. Peter is survived by a stepson, Mark Mary Richardson of Grand Rapids; sister, Virginia Edward Budzinski of California; a niece, Sandra, and nephews Jim, Alan, and Rick; and close friends, Bob Jaros and Jane Larson and their families.
Peter is also preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Hodges and Mary Buche.
